CME MDCCCLIX

https://www.mikecelona.net – Abstract video synthesizer remix experiment whose aurora-like images and analog video glitch distortions reminded me of the Carrington Event of 1859 in which a powerful CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) hit the Earth’s atmosphere resulting in the largest geomagnetic storm on record that disrupted nearly every telegraph line in the world–pretty much the extent of our global electronic infrastructure at the time.  Despite a number of close calls since then, it has been estimated that a comparable event today would do an estimated $0.6-2.6 trillion worth of damage to the U.S. alone.  Video produced using Lumen remixed live via VDMX and an analog Videffektor.  Soundtrack produced with a Roland GR-55 guitar synthesizer edited and mixed in Adobe Premiere.

It Is What It Is (Praise the Lord and Pass the Clorox)

Unedited video synth jam utilizing Lumen remixed live via VDMX against samples recorded during the same session to create a gradually compounding composition.  The soundtrack consists of a percussive guitar synthesizer noise improvisation with slowed-down government news conference and church samples that snarl like a menacing mephistopheles encouraging people to eschew public health guidance and common sense in the midst of a pandemic.

Sunken Cathedral

An abstract video synthesizer composition produced with Lumen software that was processed live via VDMX and a homemade Videffektor analog distortion device.  The soundtrack is a Creative Commons recording of Claude Debussy’s La Cathédrale engloutie (https://bit.ly/3lflJ4G) performed by pianist Ivan Ilic which was chosen based on interpretations of the images that emerged from the abstract miasma of the visuals.
