Mike Celona is a media artist, former commercial video editor and VJ based in Rochester, NY whose work has been shown at numerous international film festivals as well as museum, gallery and online exhibitions since 2005. He holds a B.F.A. in Art Video from Syracuse University.
He has always been interested in exploring the aesthetic and technical properties of the video medium as a means of personal expression through synthesized abstract imagery as well as found footage collages that do something other than tell a conventional story. More recently he has also begun experimenting with digital printmaking based on still frames from his moving image works.
His work often incorporates the unpredictable, chaotic, and spontaneous characteristics of analog video and combines them with the more controlled and deliberate elements of contemporary digital technologies in order to create hybrid artworks that embody the unique sensibilities of both.
